Heat transfer vinyl

All you required to Know about Heat Transfer Papers

Heat transfer vinyl paper is a wonderful innovation that enables printing on different kinds of surfaces. This could be used to print on a wide variety of surfaces along with creating a wonderful design on bags, T-shirts and other materials. They have been economical to make the complete printing process cost effective. There have been different types of papers that could be used on different surfaces.

Commonly used heat transfer papers

The most common heat transfer papers have been the inkjet transfer papers. These have been made available in two types, namely for dark coloured fabric and for light coloured fabric.

Heat transfer paper for dark coloured fabric

Heat transfer papers for dark colour fabric would be white in colour. The image would be put on the white background and printed. All the colours would be printed, as they should be.

Heat transfer paper for Light coloured fabric

In heat transfer paper for light colour fabric, the paper would be transparent. Consequently, white cannot be printed on it. The colour of the fabric would show where it should reveal white. A fabric that has been printed with inkjet might not be easily washable. However, washing instructions should be carefully followed in case; you want the fabric to last longer.

Dye sublimation heat transfer paper

Yet another type of heat transfer paper would be the dye sublimation heat transfer paper. It would be used to print on white or light coloured fabric. However, for dye sublimation printing, it is imperative that the substrate is polyester or a mixture of polyester and cotton, with the polyester percentage being a minimum of 50%. The nylon and microfiber substrates could be used as well. In such a process, a dye sublimation printer would be used along with sublimation ink. The major advantage in this form of printing has been the printer ink directly transforming into gas without the need to go through liquid stage. Therefore, there would be no time required for drying. Moreover, any material having a polymer coating could be used for this type of printing.

Items to be printed using dye sublimation

Several items could be printed using dye sublimation. When polymer coated items have been sublimated, the finishing would be superb that the print
would not even be felt when the hand running over it. The sublimation printer ink cartridges have been translucent. Consequently, white substrates tend to emit
the right colours.
